We go through the wall to get out. Sneak back in and take our stuff, and leave. No one would expect us to come back in after an exit like this.

[Limit breaks usually only happen after a long, hard slog through the trenches makes it so the whole group is ready to drop, and just wants things overwith. But right now, this one's happening because the lalafell is pissed. So yeah...]

You might want to cover your eyes for a little bit.

[She does as told, covering her eyes until it seems safe to open them again.]

[If she happens to peek for a moment, she might notice that the little girl in the strange dress has apparently sprouted stylized wings of light. But only for about a second - in the second after that, there's a flash of light... and the cell wall she was facing, by and large, ceases to exist. There's no noise to speak of, no debris, and no heat - it has just been completely obliterated.[

Let's go.

[Mary follows her out. She could ask about how that happened later. Now they had to focus on this jail-break.] How do we sneak in?

[She smiles. It's not an entirely pleasant variant on the beast.]

We wait til they come investigate. Most of them will have seen that. Those that didn't will find out from the ones who did. We walk right in the front door while they're standing there with their jaws on the ground.

[She didn't mention that she'd be using magic to conceal her own presence - how else was someone who stood out like a sore thumb going to evade the eyes of anyone who might be keen enough to recognize a diversion for what it was?]

[Mary, on the other hand, is no stranger with skulking. She's fast and small and knows how to take advantage of that.

She nods to the other girl and slips around so that they aren't caught, waiting for the girl's signal.]

[No stranger to infiltrating enemy installations, Aeslyn waits patiently for the majority of the front room to clear. When even the desk clerk goes to look, she doesn't conceal her smirk. Definitely a slipshod group, this. She catches Mary's eye and nods, gesturing toward the door.]

[Inside, it turns out their escape has about nine out of ten of the building's occupants... well, occupied. There are only three men left in the main room, but just looking at them is enough to confirm - they're dangerous. Probably the leaders of this police farce.]

[Mary's on it. She really doesn't look it, but she manages to not only slip into the station, but get to the door and open it silently.

She's in. Hopefully Aeslyn told her what things belong to her so she can swipe it all and slip back out.]

[A book, a leather bag, and a wooden scroll case - the bag has a flower print on it and the scroll case should be more or less unique. The book has lots of pointy metal bits on it, so it's probably unique too.]

[Since Mary's doing her part, it's time for the second part of this - the distraction. So. How many people do you think can ignore a glowing blue three-tailed foxthing the size of a doberman running between their legs?]

[Probably not many, but Mary knows that's her cue. The most the ones left in the room might see of her is a corner of her cloak as she slips out and away, darting through streets and alley ways, and finally down into the sewer system. It wasn't her favourite place, but the police would have to find a sewer expert before they'd be willing to search the labyrinth. Having quite a few friends that live down here she knows it well enough.

She gives Aeslyn her belongings with a smile,] I'm Mary Weather Duke.

[It won't be the first time she's endured unpleasant smells - and nothing, nothing can outstink a Malboro. Aes doesn't seem too concerned that her pet didn't follow. Considering he hadn't existed til about a second before he ran in there, maybe she isn't. She takes her things back with thanks, and arranges them about herself. Instantly, she feels more comfortable.]

Aeslyn Blackrose. If this is what this city's usually like, I'm very glad to only be passing through.

It's not... yeah, it is this bad.

Why did you trust me though?

I have an ability. Nothing I can control, but... it shows me things. Things people I meet have experienced, if they happen to be relevant to the situation at hand. It doesn't happen all the time, or with everyone I meet. Just when it needs to, really. It's called the Echo.

[Mary at least doesn't seem phased by it at all. She seems relieved, even. She's a fortune teller, seeing into people's lives is a thing she's perfectly familiar with.]

So you know... It seems like I'm going to have to leave. Maybe find some Romani....

You could come with me. Like I said - I'm just passing through. I know some people who wouldn't think twice about taking you in - or helping you to find whatever it is you need.

[She pauses, and after a moment's consideration, goes on...] You kind of remind me of one of them, actually.

[She holds a hand in front of her chest, eyes wide and curious.] Who?

I doubt you'll know the name - neither he nor I are really from around here. He's a real rogue, but he has a heart of solid gold. He's been through a lot lately, though...

[...Who among their group hasn't been through a lot, lately?]

We call him Thancred.

[She smiles,] Eric was quite the rogue too. I'm sure we'd get along.

[Her smile is pained. Eric had died recently, killed by the real murder and pinned on her like the poisoning had been. They even were trying to make it seem that she had killed her mother years before.

She'd been handed a real bad hand in life. Growing up in the worst part of town, barely able to survive despite having shocking psychic ability. Many of her friends died of disease. Just getting a cold could be a death sentence. There were times where starvation would lead to someone's death even when they worked together. She'd been driven to theft before, but that's where her criminal activity ends.

Many people in her place would be full of despair, but somehow once again she's smiling.]

[Aeslyn knew places like that. They went by names like Pearl Lane, Rat's Alley, and the Silver Bazaar, where she came from - and she's spent significant amounts of time in most of them.]

[The usage of past tense doesn't escape her notice, either.] I'm sure you will. He's a little intense right now, but... he'd never pass up the chance to make a good impression on a cute lady. Just don't take him too seriously - it's half act, half reflex, and half genuinely just being the rogue he is at heart.

[She smiles, starting to lead the other girl through the sewers.] He sounds sweet.

I'm hoping that Leroy's here. I'd like to have a chance to say good bye to him at least. I know he won't join us, his sister is very ill, she wouldn't manage.

He is. They all are, really - I get the feeling you're going to fit in like a hand in a glove.

[The news of a sick friend is... troubling, but not unexpected.] I may be able to help with that, at least. I've picked up a few things about medicine in my travels.

[She smiles, but it isn't too hopeful. She'd seen the illness take too many lives to really expect the sister to be able to recover, but there's no way she would try to pull Leroy from her.] I'm sure he would really appreciate it.

[She smiles back. Kid, you're in for a show - doubly so if her sneaking suspicion turns out to be right. Those cards you use have given her an idea.]

[She hands Mary a piece of crystal, its sides carved in excruciatingly minute detail with countless details about and stories of a certain type of magic-user - an Astrologian. Its glow was dull in Aeslyn's hand, but in Mary's...]

((Not that it makes a whole lotta difference coming from a meme, but what she just handed Mary is the Soul of the Astrologian; it grants the Astrologian class and abilities up to level 30. ...I could also ask if you happen to play FFXIV, in which case I needn't explain more. XD))
