Jail Cell Mee
The Jail Cell Meme

"What are you in for?"
Maybe you've only been arrested, or you've been convicted.
Holding cell, prison cell, your choice.
There's now bars between you and the outside world.
Hope you like your cell mate.
And your guards.
I know the feel
Why did you trust me though?

So you know... It seems like I'm going to have to leave. Maybe find some Romani....

[She pauses, and after a moment's consideration, goes on...] You kind of remind me of one of them, actually.

Gah, what I wouldn't do to have these two meet in a real game...
[...Who among their group hasn't been through a lot, lately?]
We call him Thancred.
I do play her pretty often. not currently anywhere, but I am looking at a place
[Her smile is pained. Eric had died recently, killed by the real murder and pinned on her like the poisoning had been. They even were trying to make it seem that she had killed her mother years before.
She'd been handed a real bad hand in life. Growing up in the worst part of town, barely able to survive despite having shocking psychic ability. Many of her friends died of disease. Just getting a cold could be a death sentence. There were times where starvation would lead to someone's death even when they worked together. She'd been driven to theft before, but that's where her criminal activity ends.
Many people in her place would be full of despair, but somehow once again she's smiling.]
Might I ask which one?
[The usage of past tense doesn't escape her notice, either.] I'm sure you will. He's a little intense right now, but... he'd never pass up the chance to make a good impression on a cute lady. Just don't take him too seriously - it's half act, half reflex, and half genuinely just being the rogue he is at heart.

I'm hoping that Leroy's here. I'd like to have a chance to say good bye to him at least. I know he won't join us, his sister is very ill, she wouldn't manage.
Thriller isn't really my style, but I wouldn't mind museboxing with you elsewhere?
[The news of a sick friend is... troubling, but not unexpected.] I may be able to help with that, at least. I've picked up a few things about medicine in my travels.
any time! You can always pm me, and I have a musebox boxouttahell
Bookmarking that musebox!
D'you believe in magic, by any chance?
yay!
I see we have a friend or two in common - I recognize that Zetta.
[She hands Mary a piece of crystal, its sides carved in excruciatingly minute detail with countless details about and stories of a certain type of magic-user - an Astrologian. Its glow was dull in Aeslyn's hand, but in Mary's...]
((Not that it makes a whole lotta difference coming from a meme, but what she just handed Mary is the Soul of the Astrologian; it grants the Astrologian class and abilities up to level 30. ...I could also ask if you happen to play FFXIV, in which case I needn't explain more. XD))
Apparently we have some plurk friends in common too! Small world~
[The crystal glows brightly, and Mary can feel the energy flowing through it. She had been taught her ways by her mother and the fortune telling mother of a friend, but somehow now things she didn't know before made perfect sense. She stares at the crystal, wide-eyed as she discovers how to tap into talents that had only been hidden to her before.
She's left speechless.]

Let's go see if we can't help that sick friend of yours. I think you'll find you don't even really need my help, now.
((Astrologian is a healer class. It uses planispheres and cards to generate effects; its primary focuses are on buffs and it's one of three classes that have the ability to heal status ailments.))

If only she could stay in the city and spend all her time healing the sick.]
I don't know how to thank you.
no subject
There's no need to thank me for putting you on an even more difficult path. Without formal training, you'll have to find your own way - and I know precisely how hard that can be. I'll be there to help you, but this is your path - it's up to you to walk it.

Okay. Let's go, then; the sooner we start helping your friend, the better. You know the way - lead on.

Leroy looks surprised to see her and worried.] Mary Weather! But... Eric... Didn't you get arrested?
[Mary hugs Leroy,] I had help escaping. Let Aeslyn explain, I'm going to heal your sister.
[He's rightfully baffled, and looks to Aeslyn for answers while Mary went to the short cot and many hole-filled blankets that hid Leroy's sister.]

I don't make a habit of staying in jail cells that I didn't do anything to earn my place in. Someone in there thinks that picking up little girls off the street makes for good business. We gave them reason to believe otherwise... [She clenches a fist, knowing just how bad things would have gotten for Mary if she hadn't been there.] And when we finish here, I'm going to go back and make sure they got the message. Consider it a parting gift.

[Leroy runs to his sister's side as Mary steps away. He's busy hugging his sister close and crying with joy.
Meanwhile Mary slips back to Aeslyn's side.] Let's go. It will be harder if he needs to say a full goodbye.
no subject
Get us back to that jail. I intend to keep my word.

Probably because they're merely landmarks, with subtle enough differences you wouldn't be able to really tell them apart unless you knew what you were looking for.
For the most part Mary doesn't even need to use these, though there are a few times she stops to check.
Eventually she leads them up another ladder that leads to a side alley a block from the police station.]
