Hunger Games AU
THE HUNGER GAMES MEME
Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.
Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.
The last one standing wins.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
1. ENEMIES: in for the kill
Congratulations, Tribute.

The truth is you've been plotting each other's death for a long time. The only thing different about this situation is that everyone else actually wants you to off each other. Who cares if both of you are probably going to die anyway: no one is taking this bastard down except you.
2. ROMANCE: lovers in a dangerous time
What do lovers do when they know they're about to die? Last kiss, last words, last fuck? Maybe you're desperately trying to protect each other from the rest. Maybe you're the last two left alive. What sacrifices are you willing to make? How far will you allow each other to go?
3. ALLIES: set your arms down
It's in both of your best interests to stick together. Two together is more deadly than one, and you can pool supplies and weapons. Of course, this arrangement is most definitely temporary. Maybe it'll fall apart tonight, or tomorrow, or next week. Maybe your alliance has already run its course, and it's about to fall apart...right now.
4. TORTURE: death's not the worst
Sure, the point is to kill them. But why leave it at that? Maybe you've always secretly gotten off on this sort of thing, or maybe you've just cracked under the stress. When everyone is going to die, there's no point in sticking to all those rules society laid down for you any more. You've already incapacitated them; there's no way they can fight back. Might as well have some fun, right?
5. BETRAYAL: one victor
An alliance can only lat for so long in the arena. It doesn't matter how long the two of you have been working together or what you thought you had. Finally a breaking point has been reached—is it the tension, does it feel like your options have run out, is this the perfect opportunity to get them, or are you the last two left? Someone has to come out on top. In the end, there can only be one victor.
6. VICTORY: the finish line
You've done it. Last one standing. You've chosen to live, and no one but you knows how much that choice cost you, because they're all dead. At this point there's nothing that will stop you from stepping up to claim victory. You killed every other tribute. Or did you?

deep breath!! currently playing neji straight from canon but I would not at all mind trying my hand at RTN-au. same district, m and f tributes because hell, they're from a respected family, but one of them just happens to take their job much more seriously. obvs. so if you're game, we can toss some ideas around or I can dive right in to a starter idek }

Honestly I don't mind if you want to play a more straight canon Neji either I wouldn't want you to be put on the spot with something you're not used to! But if you did want to give a RTN-Neji a try, I'm all over that too. I mean it's kinda AU either way what with it being hunger games and all so we'd kinda be playing by ear either way. Being elite tributes from the same place as the male and female ones I think either way it would be like a pact where once everyone else is dead they then duel themselves, so like a dedicated alliance. ]

if you're willing to put up with me, let's see if I can figure out an RTN-neji just because, well, it'd be fun. ha... you're right, we're au'ing this either way so ~jazz hands~. I'm actually just about to turn in for the night so I will have to write something up tomorrow- any of the prompts stick out to you? anything you really want to play out? also! peeked at your journal real quick and are there any points about their relationship you'd like to hash out or
do we wing this
I'm game for literally anything! }

Oh I'm mildly embarrassed now I didn't fill that thing out at all I just kinda put that there thinking I would edit it into existence. I'm fine with winging it but if you want to hash some stuff out I'm more than willing to hash some stuff out if that's something you want/need/think would be fun.
As for the prompts! I think by definition they probably disqualify themselves from enemies and lovers so we could just start from them at a camp and taking stock of things on the first night and go from there? Go to them hunting someone or being hunted or some weather or other interference ]
oh no I got to this late-- ping me if I should change anything o/
And when they'd been released and the true idiots rushed to the bloodbath, Neji stuck to the plan and fell back. It was easy to ambush those who were already shaken and bloodied and take their packs then. He'd scored a backpack with unknown contents (it was locked! look, he wasn't going to stick around to pick at it now) and a lance at first. But lances were cumbersome so he used it to pin a girl's arm to one of those giant trees surrounding the village (who knew where the perimeter of the Arena was, really) and that was how Neji had gotten his sword.
And that's how the sword and his right hand had gotten just a little bit bloodied (it was gross, tbh).
So with night falling and the cover of the giant trees overhead and the noise of the village behind them, Neji thought, you know, now was a good a time as any to start whining about it all.] We don't have water, do we?
[Just letting that backpack fall to the ground, no big deal. Hinata-sama--] Actually, can you open that? [The back...pack... and no, don't even look at his sword it's--] I didn't want to just slash it open because it's good for. [Don't kill him.]
Carrying things.
Oh no it's cool let's roll with it see what happens. Same back at you for concerns
Still. No helping that.
In a way, she couldn't help but feel some sense of pity... but that sort of kindness was something that no one here could afford, least of all the preeminent Victor. That would lead to being sloppy which is altogether worse than being arrogant in this situation.
Hinata herself also didn't join the initial bloodbath, instead lingering behind and getting her own prey. She got a backpack for her troubles to, as well as a small set of knives she picked off the first young man she snapped the neck of. And really, who allows themselves that opening when they're armed?
But-- ]
Don't we?
[ Hinata scoffs at this, but it's also true the supplies she got don't have water, so he hurriedly tries to open his-- and locked. Which means the one she got was pre-opened. She could cut it open but - she instead rummages in her own for something to try to pick the lock first, better to disarm it ]
That's not bad thinking though.
