Hunger Games AU
THE HUNGER GAMES MEME
Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.
Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.
The last one standing wins.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
1. ENEMIES: in for the kill
Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.
Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.

The truth is you've been plotting each other's death for a long time. The only thing different about this situation is that everyone else actually wants you to off each other. Who cares if both of you are probably going to die anyway: no one is taking this bastard down except you.
2. ROMANCE: lovers in a dangerous time
What do lovers do when they know they're about to die? Last kiss, last words, last fuck? Maybe you're desperately trying to protect each other from the rest. Maybe you're the last two left alive. What sacrifices are you willing to make? How far will you allow each other to go?
3. ALLIES: set your arms down
It's in both of your best interests to stick together. Two together is more deadly than one, and you can pool supplies and weapons. Of course, this arrangement is most definitely temporary. Maybe it'll fall apart tonight, or tomorrow, or next week. Maybe your alliance has already run its course, and it's about to fall apart...right now.
4. TORTURE: death's not the worst
Sure, the point is to kill them. But why leave it at that? Maybe you've always secretly gotten off on this sort of thing, or maybe you've just cracked under the stress. When everyone is going to die, there's no point in sticking to all those rules society laid down for you any more. You've already incapacitated them; there's no way they can fight back. Might as well have some fun, right?
5. BETRAYAL: one victor
An alliance can only lat for so long in the arena. It doesn't matter how long the two of you have been working together or what you thought you had. Finally a breaking point has been reached—is it the tension, does it feel like your options have run out, is this the perfect opportunity to get them, or are you the last two left? Someone has to come out on top. In the end, there can only be one victor.
6. VICTORY: the finish line
You've done it. Last one standing. You've chosen to live, and no one but you knows how much that choice cost you, because they're all dead. At this point there's nothing that will stop you from stepping up to claim victory. You killed every other tribute. Or did you?

Fujinuma Satoru | Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased)
Satoru is probably a younger Tribute from a poorer District like 11 or 8. If you need ideas for an Arena, maybe some kind of ice one in keeping with Hokkaido? I am super open to suggestions, I just thought I might throw some things out there!))

Just had to be s-snow...
[ This sucks. The Cornucopia sucked. Seeing so many people get utterly slaughtered not five minutes after the bell sounded to let every Tribute know to run like hell, grab as many supplies as possible, and not die...the whole thing was a mess, and though Anna was adamant that she wasn't going to kill anyone here, not today and not ever, she also knew that someone wasn't going to just drop dead out here. She didn't want to die, but...what could she do?
She had no idea. She didn't even want to think about it. All she did was grab a bag and dash like a woman possessed, running like hell up towards the mountains, trying her hardest not to turn into a popsicle and keep moving, can't stop moving, stop and you're d-- ]
A-ah!
[ And just her luck, the poor girl slips on ice. She can hear the sharp crack of a bone in her ankle give way as she hits the slippery ground, and though she tries to break her fall, she's not going anywhere anytime soon unless she can get that fixed up...unfortunately, she doesn't have even the slightest idea of what to do with a broken ankle, and she doesn't exactly have time. She needs help, and fast, at least just to get to a place where she can hide away for a while... ]

But his mother is waiting for him back in District 12, and if he wins, she'll never go hungry again so he can have a crust of bread to himself. It's all or nothing for the both of them.
He has to try.
But it's hardly a breath into the Games--he's dashed like a rabbit for the mountains, towards snow cover and the possibility of shelter or even hibernating animals' food stores (he hasn't seen any trees yet, doesn't know if nuts are a possibility, but at least this rocky Arena is familiar enough to home)--when the sharp noise of surprise and pain catches him like a snare. He's hidden, he has a good-size rock in his hand, he freezes and he's invisible, he can win, he can make it to nightfall.
But he sees that flash of red hair, and, no. He knows her. That's Anna. She...during training, she was genuinely kind. Silly. This is stupid.
He leaves his hiding place and darts to her side, eyes not on her but the scenery, watching for movement, hovering protectively over her shoulder.]
Shh, shh. It's me, it's Satoru. We need to move. Are you okay?

3: ALLIES
She had more important things on her mind at the moment, though--like getting as far from the Cornucopia as possible, finding water, and finding an ally or two. She had ideas for that--of course she did, that's how the Games always went, the best alliances and strategies were never made on the fly in the middle of the action, no matter what the cameras and editors did to make the people watching think otherwise. But unlike most years and what her District would be expecting, Cissie had zero interest in working with the boy from her own District. He was the worst kind of Career, and so bloodthirsty she wouldn't trust him for a second.
The boy from District Three, on the other hand... She'd watched him during their trainings. He was smart and quiet, and good with technology in a way she wasn't, and if she could convince him to work together, they might have a shot at outlasting most of the other Careers, at least.
It didn't hurt that he was Roy's pick for an alliance, either.
She just had to survive long enough to find him and hopefully talk to him before he tried to kill her.]
YES GOOD.
So food and water would be a priority. At least there was plenty of shelter.
He went up, scaling the side if a building with enough handholds in the brick for him to manage, and then started moving away from the center and the other tributes. He had an ally in mind--Dick had suggested her--but he had to find her, if she was still alive. He'd seen her head into the melee.
Oh, and hopefully he didn't die in the process.]

deep breath!! currently playing neji straight from canon but I would not at all mind trying my hand at RTN-au. same district, m and f tributes because hell, they're from a respected family, but one of them just happens to take their job much more seriously. obvs. so if you're game, we can toss some ideas around or I can dive right in to a starter idek }
no subject
Honestly I don't mind if you want to play a more straight canon Neji either I wouldn't want you to be put on the spot with something you're not used to! But if you did want to give a RTN-Neji a try, I'm all over that too. I mean it's kinda AU either way what with it being hunger games and all so we'd kinda be playing by ear either way. Being elite tributes from the same place as the male and female ones I think either way it would be like a pact where once everyone else is dead they then duel themselves, so like a dedicated alliance. ]

He's basically Cato's long lost bro. He's very, very good at killing and pretty clever to boot, but it's not impossible to beat him... trying to strike up an alliance might actually be (relatively) easier, though. ]loki laufeyson | mcu

[ Adachi knew he was going to be sick. ]
[ Too many damn kids had died during this shit. Sure, there were more adults, but the fact that people Saki's age could end up in this shit made him feel ill. What was worse was he couldn't fight against the system from inside this "Game"; he had to follow the rules, or he would end up dead himself. Not the best scenario for a detective, to be certain; he knew he was never going to forgive himself for this. ]
[ But it was all over now, right? That had been the last one... ]
[ ...right? ]

You survived.
[ He offered as a condolence and all he could think to really say. It wasn't a victory nor was it something to celebrate but Adachi lived through another year. That's better than nothing at all. ]
I can tend to your injuries if need be, but you will have to address the public soon.

6, post victory
"Hello-hello, uh, congrats on winning your Arena. I'm calling because...well, I won't lie, this is not the most pleasant of experiences. If you ever need to talk, my office is open for you. It might be better to settle down before you head out to the Capitol, they're not very patient there. Anyway, you know where to find me."
He downplayed how much damage a Victory can have on a person, he knows the Capitol is ravenous for their new plaything.
