THE HUNGER GAMES MEME
Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.
Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.
The last one standing wins.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
1. ENEMIES: in for the kill
Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.
Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.

The truth is you've been plotting each other's death for a long time. The only thing different about this situation is that everyone else actually wants you to off each other. Who cares if both of you are probably going to die anyway: no one is taking this bastard down except you.
2. ROMANCE: lovers in a dangerous time
What do lovers do when they know they're about to die? Last kiss, last words, last fuck? Maybe you're desperately trying to protect each other from the rest. Maybe you're the last two left alive. What sacrifices are you willing to make? How far will you allow each other to go?
3. ALLIES: set your arms down
It's in both of your best interests to stick together. Two together is more deadly than one, and you can pool supplies and weapons. Of course, this arrangement is most definitely temporary. Maybe it'll fall apart tonight, or tomorrow, or next week. Maybe your alliance has already run its course, and it's about to fall apart...right now.
4. TORTURE: death's not the worst
Sure, the point is to kill them. But why leave it at that? Maybe you've always secretly gotten off on this sort of thing, or maybe you've just cracked under the stress. When everyone is going to die, there's no point in sticking to all those rules society laid down for you any more. You've already incapacitated them; there's no way they can fight back. Might as well have some fun, right?
5. BETRAYAL: one victor
An alliance can only lat for so long in the arena. It doesn't matter how long the two of you have been working together or what you thought you had. Finally a breaking point has been reached—is it the tension, does it feel like your options have run out, is this the perfect opportunity to get them, or are you the last two left? Someone has to come out on top. In the end, there can only be one victor.
6. VICTORY: the finish line
You've done it. Last one standing. You've chosen to live, and no one but you knows how much that choice cost you, because they're all dead. At this point there's nothing that will stop you from stepping up to claim victory. You killed every other tribute. Or did you?

You survived.
[ He offered as a condolence and all he could think to really say. It wasn't a victory nor was it something to celebrate but Adachi lived through another year. That's better than nothing at all. ]
I can tend to your injuries if need be, but you will have to address the public soon.

[ The last one left standing... he felt sick, and that wasn't just from the fact that he needed to figure out how to survive as long as he needed to. This world was sickening... how the hell had it gone on this long with no one doing anything about it?! ]
[ He waved off the offer of a heal, not in the mood for it. ]
They can bite me. I'm not in the mood to cater to them.

[ He never claimed to be a great mentor. In fact he might be the most cynical they could have chosen for someone who seems to have. . .delicate sensibilities when it comes to violence. Loki was one of the very few victors who set up his opponents to slaughter themselves while he simply avoided the consequences of the environment. Surviving the hunger games without blood on one's hands is, apparently, an achievement in it's own right. ]
Get in the mood. You will be addressed by President Snow some time today and he isn't tolerant of attitude. [ A grimace. ] And if that isn't enough motivation keep the welfare of your district in mind.
[ But he won't offer to get him a medic again. They'll shove the service on him later as no one wants to see a bloodied combatant in their victory garbs. ]
no subject
You can't tell me you're just okay with this. There are kids out there, Loki!
[ The last of which he killed... he felt his stomach lurch, the urge to vomit coming back to him in full force. No, dammit... why? Why kids? What kind of bastard got his rocks off seeing something like that?! It was a moment before he wrapped an arm around his stomach, pressing a hand against the wall and trying not to collapse. ]
[ This was such shit; he needed food after that ordeal, but there was no way he could force himself to eat anything right now. ]
Fuck him. Not like he wouldn't try even without an excuse.
no subject
[ It's just the name of the game. Kids were chosen and slaughtered because it kept all the districts in line after the Dark Days. ]
You'd be surprised what someone like Snow can get away with. [ He motioned for Adachi to follow him to the elevator. ] You do have some time before the ending ceremony. I suggest getting everything out of your system before we have to face the public again.
no subject
Watch him try around me.
[ He growled at him, not stopping until he could turn around and slump against the back of the elevator. ]
no subject
You're lucky you now have enough money to pay for what you broke.
[ Loki shook his head. ]
I'm not asking you to grovel. I'm just reminding you how much pull the Capitol has. [ Especially when Adachi has his Persona and he still got roped into the Games. ]
no subject
I'm still just human. All the powers in the world mean shit if you're just normal otherwise.
no subject
Obviously it doesn't matter either way seeing as I was dragged into the same game.
[ He isn't human, after all. Nor is he from earth. ]
And anyway, do you have something nice to change into? You have people to greet and a dinner to attend.
no subject
[ Adachi let out an annoyed noise, making a pouting face. ]
Can I at least get something healthy to eat before you make me pretend to enjoy that overly rich food they eat here?
no subject
I thought you'd never ask. [ Even though he could really go for a cheeseburger, but that's not healthy. ] I'll condone showing up late for a decent meal for once.
[ A smirk. ]
What do you want? They'll bring it if you request it.
no subject
...I dunno... can they do anything...?
no subject
[ They're not paying for it so who cares? They could order fifty cakes and they'd have to comply per the rules. Tributes get pretty much everything they want as a backhanded consolation. ]
Try not to kill the staff if you're thinking about ordering fifty pizzas or something.
no subject
I want sushi, and beef tongue, and maybe a beef bowl, but only if they use the right sauce, not that overly sweet crap, and...
[ ...he might be awhile. ]
no subject
Write it down if you're going to be picky. I'm not going to remember everything you said.
no subject
Sheesh, I can't even escape getting hit like that here.
[ He folded his arms over his chest, managing to look indignant. ]
...I guess just ramen and cabbage is fine. Whatever flavor, I don't care.
no subject
[ A chuckle. ]
I said make a list. Don't get depressed on me just because I asked you to actually do something rather than me babying you. [ He means that in a good natured sense. Adachi did just win the Games and he deserves a little less snark perhaps but this conversation felt normal. ]
no subject
No, I... it doesn't feel right if I get to enjoy a good meal after this. Just... need something to keep me going for now.
no subject
Enjoy it for them, then. [ Once the lift reached the upper floor he stepped out, beaconing Adachi to follow. ] Are you actually going to be alright?
[ Who knows what condition Adachi might be in. It's always hard to tell with the winners. Some act like they've gained some form of honor and others are just happy they benefitted their different worlds in the end. ]
no subject
I'll live. I have to.
no subject
Good, because your persona gave me an idea.
[ As large as it is? He's surprised didn't break the arena in half but he doubts that was ever on his mind. ]
Are there others like you?
no subject
[ Adachi stared in surprise at the sudden question. ]
Well, there are others like me from other worlds, but only a few people similar to me on my own.
[ It's Complicated (tm). ]
no subject
[ They may have been dragged here preemptively. Who knows. The games aren't exactly known for being fair in the way they draw people in. ]
no subject
[ He saw Hanamura. Of course it had to be Hanamura here, the kid that was the second victim on his world. How the heck was he supposed to approach him, exactly? ]
