Denny's Meme
It's late. Like, 3 AM late.
You're hungry. You're bored.
But nothing is open.
Except Denny's.

RULES
1. Post to the meme.
2. Find somebody to eat with. Figure out why you'd do this to yourself.
3. What even is "Moons Over My Hammy?"

I really want pancakes now
Rey will not have this meal be spoiled, it is the best thing she's eaten ever. Not actually, but it is right now and she's intent on savouring the meal. Even if she'd been inhaling it just moments before. Despite her mild irritation, Rey watches as he eats the pancakes and shifts her gaze to her own. She'd nearly forgotten them. "It probably is in several star systems," she agrees, turning her attentions to the stack of peanut butter and chocolate pancakes beside her. "Especially this one."
Kylo might hold on to his food a little better if he averted his gaze. Rey, while still using a knife a fork, begins to shovel the sweet stack of golden cakes into her mouth. There is sauce everywhere.
I just ate toast. It definitely didn't compare.
"Sweet things weren't balanced nutrition for... a soldier." Yes, that word could substitute for Stormtrooper without raising suspicion, right? The officers did have a few perks that the grunts didn't, but the Knights of Ren did not share those. They were always in training.
When syrup started going everywhere, he seized one of the pancake stacks for himself, gripping the plate protectively as he ate. God, they were so, so good...
"These are better." he decided with his mouth full.

"No," she agrees around a mouth of pancake. "Wasn't for scavenging either," Rey takes a moment to swallow and think. "Although, I did find Rebel rations once and they included some sort of dessert. Guess they figured their soldiers deserved a treat." She gives a shrug and returns to stuffing her face.
It takes some effort on her part to refrain from complaining about Kylo eating her food, but they'd decided somewhere along the way to share. Rey isn't great at it, but she's trying. She's not alone in the desert any more after all. "They ar--" she pauses, she hasn't tried to the other ones but hers look better. All the same, Rey reaches over and stuffs some of the cinnamon ones into her mouth after she's swallowed. "So much better, these aren't half bad though."

His face was even more awkward than his earlier apology, though. Apparently Kylo Ren wasn't a fan of chocolate.
"You can keep them. I like these." He pulled his stack of pancakes closer still, prepared to defend them if necessary. Damn, Rey could out-eat a Hutt.
"...Treats make people soft. That was the rationale, I think." And that could be taken in more than one way.

"They were unnecessary," Given the context, soldiers don't need sugar to survive. Neither do scavengers, but sometimes it's not about necessary and unnecessary. "Doesn't mean we didn't deserve them though," Rey stops eating and looks up at Kylo, there's something in her eyes; a sadness. It's fleeting though and Rey wipes her mouth on the back of her hand. "Would have been nice at least."

He saw the sad expression in her eyes, and met it with one of confusion.
Deserve them? Deserve to indulge yourself or be made to feel better when you're down? Was that some sort of Jedi mind trick? It really didn't make sense.
"...I don't think I ever deserved this." he whispered. "Not without long, drawn-out consequences to make up for such an egregious lapse of willpower."
The comment didn't stop him from eating them now, though. Instead, it seemed to make him a bit more ravenous - as though he might be caught before he had the chance to finish something so wrongfully delicious.
